A sample of 620 children from fifth and the sixth grades in six elementary schools in Pusan City participated, along with their parents, in a study of intergenerational family relationships and self-differentiation. Instruments for measuring intergenerational family relationships and the parents' and children's self-differentiation levels were translated into Korean and adapted for the study. The data, analyzed using t-tests and MANCOVA, revealed meaningful differencesin the following areas: 1) between the self-differentiation of the boys and girls and between the fathers and mothers; 2) between the parent's and the children's self-differentiation levels; 3) between the parent's self-differentiation level and the intergenerational family relationship, as perceived by the children.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

●본 연구는 부모 자아분화 수준에 따른 아동 자아분화 수준과 아동이 지각한 세대간 가족관계의 관련성을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상자는 부산시내 6개의 초등학교 5,6학년 620명의 아동과 그 부모를 대상으로 하였다. 아동에게는 아동용 자아분화 검사, 세대간 가족관계 검사를 실시하였으며, 부모에게는 부모용 자아분화 검사를 실시하였다. 자료 분석은 t-test와 아동의 성별을 공변인으로 두고 MANCOVA를 실시하였으며, Scheffe 사후검증을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 첫째, 아동 자아분화는 성별에 따라 차이가 있었으며, 남학생의 자아분화가 여학생의 자아분화보다 높았다. 둘째, 부 자아분화와 모 자아분화는 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 부의 자아분화가 모의 자아분화보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 부모 자아분화 수준의 부모조합에 따른 아동의 자아분화는 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 부의 자아분화가 낮고 모의 자아분화가 높은 집단의 아동이 다른 3집단의 아동보다 자아분화가 높았다. 넷째, 부모 자아분화 수준의 부모조합에 따른 아동이 지각한 세대간 가족관계는 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 부모의 자아분화 수준이 모두 높은 집단의 아동이 부모의 자아분화 수준이 모두 낮은 집단의 아동보다 부모-자녀사이의 세대간 친밀이 높았다. 하지만, 부모 자아분화 수준이 모두 높은 집단의 세대간 간섭이 오히려 높고 세대간 융합 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 부모의 자아분화 수준에 따른 아동의 자아분화와 부모-자녀간의 세대간 가족관계의 패턴을 파악한데 그 의의가 있다고 하겠다.
