통사적 분석성과 매개변인 이론에 대해(1) = Syntactic Analyticity and Parametric Theory (1)

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 언어유형론의 관점에서 중국어가 통사적으로 분석성(analyticity, 分析性)을 가짐을 논증한다. 나아가 생성문법 최소주의 관점에서, 중국어의 분석성을 핵 이동의 비촉발이라는 미시 매개변인으로 설명한다. 또한 중국어의 분석성 현상과 이에 대한 최소주의적 설명이 비단 현대중국어뿐 아니라 고대중국어, 중국어방언 및 통시적 변천으로 확장될 수 있음을 보일 것이다.
분석성이라는 개념은 Sapir(1921)가 언어를 분석적 언어와 종합⋅포합적 언어로 분류한 데에서 시작되었다. Greenberg(1963) 이후 언어학자들은 언어간 다양한 차이가 밀접한 연관관계를 보이는 점에 주목해왔다. 생성문법의 경우, 언어 간의 차이를 언어습득 과정에서 설정되는 매개변인의 차이로 본다. 핵 선행/후행, PRO 탈락, 포합, Wh-이동 등이 거시적 매개변인이라면, 최소주의 단계에서 핵의 자질 및 이에 따른 이동 촉발성은 미시적 매개변인이라고 할 수 있다.
본론의 2장에서 저자는 현대중국어 통사부의 분석성 현상을 다룬다. 경동사 구문, 유사 명사 포합, 합성이나 구 구성을 통한 성취의미 실현, 비종결성, 동사 강제의 부재는 동사성 영역에서 발견되는 분석성이다. 그리고 가산 명사-수 분류사, 처소 명사-방위사, 불연속적인 전치사, 외현적인 긍정 정도 표지는 명사성 영역에서 발견되는 분석성이다. 3장에서는 중국어의 분석성을 최소주의에 따라 체계적으로 포착할 방안을 제시한다. 분석성 매개변인은 동사, 명사 등 어휘범주의 핵이 이동을 촉발하지 않으므로 나온 것이다. 4장에서는 중국어 기능 범주핵인 T⋅C 또한 이동의 비촉발성 자질을 갖는다고 보고 중국어에서 나타나는 의문사구 제자리, 불연속적인 wh-the-hell 구문, 부정 양화사의 부재, 상호 대명사의 부재, 이중 명사류 each의 부재, 탁월한 Kayne식 어순(역순 V2), 정규 공백 현상의 부재 현상을 설명한다.
