인도네시아 고층아파트에서 나타나는 주거행태에 대한 연구 = Housing Behavior in High-rise Apartment Adapting to the New Forms of Housing in Jakarta

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As part of a series studying high-rise apartments in Jakarta, this study aims to understand how people live in high-rise apartments and how the apartment design reflects the housing behavior of residents, thereby revealing how the behavior of Indonesian people has been transformed along with their society and environmental contexts. In this context, a field survey conducted in January 2019 includes the measurement of 10 units and evaluates interviews with the residents using a semi-structured questionnaire. Based on a precedent study, Indonesians prefer natural drying of their clothing once laundered with the use of the heat provided by sunlight to air dry their clothes. However, in many cases, back and side yards or utility spaces open to the outside air were either not provided by the landlords in the apartments rented, or the areas that were provided were considered to be too small. It is ideal for these requested amenities and activities to be elaborately reflected in the housing design for apartment dwellers. However, in high-rise apartment plans in Jakarta, there are some discrepancies between housing design and behavior. In these terms, to be settled down as popular housing typology in Indonesia, the high-rise apartments should be carefully designed to address tropical climatic conditions, and to adhere to the unique housing behavior of apartment dwellers in Indonesia.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

인도네시아 자카르타 고층아파트의 평면 연구에 대한 후속 연구로, 고층 아파트에 거주하는 인도네시아인들의 주거행태를 관찰하고 고층 아파트의 평면은 인도네시아인들의 주거문화를 잘 반영하고 있는지 판단해 보기위한 실험적인 연구로 진행되었다. 2019년 2월 인도네시아 자카르타에 위치한 10개의 가구를 방문하여 현장조사를 실시하였으며 각 가구의 거주자를 대상으로 반 구조화 된 설문지를 이용해 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 수집된 자료는 인도네시아 일반 단독주택의 주거행태와 전통주거문화와의 비교를 통해 분석하였다.
연구결과 아파트 거주자들은 자카르타의 극심한 교통체증을 피해 출퇴근 시간을 줄이고자 회사 인근에 거주하기 위해 아파트로 이사를 온 것으로 나타났다. 또한 같은 침실수의 단독주택과 비교하였을 때 아파트 평면이 더 협소하였지만 거주자들은 아파트 단지 내에서 제공하는 시설 및 서비스가 있어 거주하는데 큰 불편함 없이 만족한다고 하였다.
아파트 거주자의 주생활행태 중 목욕 및 용변과 세탁에서 기존과는 다른 행태가 가장 두드러지게 나타났다. 전통적인 화장실사용 행태와는 달리 목욕, 용변 등에 따른 공간의 분리하여 샤워커튼을 달고 부스를 설치하는 등 개조하여 사용하였다. 또한 직사광선 아래에서 자연건조를 하는 것을 선호하기 때문에 야드에서 세탁행태가 나타나지만 아파트에서는 야드 공간이 협소하여 세탁기를 둘 공간이 마땅치 않고, 아예 세탁기 없이 단지 내 세탁시설을 이용하기도 했다.
연구결과를 종합하여 자카르타 고층아파트는 현지의 거주자의 주거문화와 생활양식에 대한 고려가 충분하지 않다고 판단되며, 이러한 고유한 주거문화와 생활양식을 반영하는 적극적인 노력이 없다면 아파트의 성공적인 토착화는 어려울 수 있다.
본 연구는 비록 10사례라는 제한적 사례 분석으로 인도네시아 고층 아파트 거주자의 주거문화를 일반화한다는 것에는 한계가 있지만, 10사례를 실증적으로 심도있게 분석하여, 고층아파트의 주거문화와 새로운 주요구를 파악한 것은 최초의 시도라는데 의의가 있으며, 본 연구결과는 인도네시아에 향후 고층아파트를 계획하는데 있어, 중점적으로 고려되어야 할 부분에 대한 정보를 제공하고, 기초자료로서 방향성을 제시하는데 활용할 수 있다고 본다.
