한국학의 갈래와 개념 = Concept and Classification of Korean Studies

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The notion and concept of Korean Studies has changed since the beginning of the 21st Century. Korean Studies includes Korean linguistics, Korean literature, Korean history and Korean philosophy. These had been recognized differently in recent years. Korean Studies has two concepts. First is Korean Studies as Korean identity formation. Second is the dialectical recognition of other as Korean subjectivity formation. Terminologies relating to Korean Studies are Korea Research, National Study, Goryo Study etc. Korean Studies has two meanings as Studies(學) and Research(硏究). Therefore, conceptualizing and naming of Korean Studies must be changed according to the situation and circumstance. In Taxonomy, Korean Studies could be about the field of humanity, sociology, area study, and ethnology. It means that Korean Studies is the inter-disciplinary science and fusion field. Korean Studies requires a new perspective in the age of globalization. It would be trans-nationalism and trans-localism. Trans-nationalism, coined by J. Christeva, is not a nationalism but open nationalism with overcoming the national sentiment. Trans-regionalism, same as in trans-nationalism, is not a regionalism but open regionalism with overcoming the regional sentiment.
