조봉암(曺奉岩)의 사회민주주의론(社會民主主義論) = A Study on The Social Democratic of Theory of Cho Pong-Am

The purpose of this study is for better understanding on the social democracy that cho Pong-Am pursued through new vision of social democracy, the ``primacy of politics`` and ``class cross-sectional cooperation,`` and investigated and analyzed political and economical politics of cho Pong-Am according to that vision. cho Pong-Am who changed into a social democrat, did not stop at insisting his political ideals to the center of innovation power after the Korean War, but he tried to provide vision of better life to the people by putting priority in politics and class cross-sectional cooperation. First, with a belief that society needs to be reconstituted politically, he formed the Progressive Party with a ``popular party`` strategy after many political party formation attempts. Also, he attacked how unrealistic the unification by expanding northward of Syngman Rhee government is. However, he laid stress on practicing democracy through social engagement and stability by keeping every citizen, the greatest victims of war, from dying from hunger, not the unification by force or peaceful unification Major issue of economic policies originated from a belief that it is not correct to be exploitation of human by humans through ``economy without exploitation.`` His intention was to gradually remove weaknesses and flaws and promote domestic economy construction by criticizing inconsistency of capitalism and communism through ``free planned economy`` of combined freedom and plan by nation. This intent was evident through the farmland reform. The farmland reform promoted improvement of farm household economy through business investors for landowners for modernization, and democratization of farming area and rationalization of agricultural management for farmers. As explained, cho Pong-Am intended to reintegrate with social integration by political means by social democracy. Meaning, he intended to resolve national contradiction and social integration by harmonizing capitalism, democracy, and socialism. (Kyungpook National University / [e-mail])
