The paper argues that the final target of the so called Northeast Asia controversies should be the regional integration such as `Northeast Asian Community` or `Asian Union` and that in the process `Northeast Asian Economic Community` should be formed in the first place. The first purpose of the paper is to analyse the economic issues regarding Northeast Asia controversies based on the above presuppositions. The second purpose of the paper is to analyse the positions and perspectives of the major countries in the region regarding the regional integration from the recent discussions of NAIS conferences. Chapter Two elucidates the conceptual confusions of Northeast Asia controversies in terms of the comparison of the discourse of Northeast Asian Economic Hub and the discourse of Northeast Community. Chapter Three analyses issues related to the regional integration and regional cooperation respectively. Chapter Four analyses the positions and perspectives of major countries regarding `Northeast Asian Economic Community`. Finally, the conclusion suggests the theoretical and policy implications of the above discussions.
