In this study will be measured brake horsepower, torque, brake specific fuel consumption of engines with an experiment. To perform this experiment, the compression ratio in the 4 cycle single-cylinder engine will increase up to 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, and 7.5 respectively, using the variable values such as ignition timing and engine speed.
The followings are the result of this study,
1) The value of brake horsepower and torque is the highest on the compression ratio, 7.0 and BTDC 23°, whereas engine speed increases with faster brake horsepower, lower torque.
2) The lowest value of brake specific fuel consumption is on the compression ratio, 7.0 and BTDC 23°. which decreases with slower engine speed.
