다큐 영화<우리학교>를 통해 본 재일조선인 연구 = A study of Korean Residents in Japan through the Documentary “ Our School" - Focusing on the Identity of Korean Permanent Residents in Japan and the Meaning of the Ethnic Group.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 한국사회가 재일조선인들의 정서를 이 해하지 못함으로써 생겨 나는 차별적인 재일동포 정책을 재고하는데 도움을 주고자 하는데 있다. 이를 위해 이 논문은 다큐 영화 〈우리학교〉를 재일조선인의 정체성과 그들에 대한 일본사회의 차별이 만들어낸 공동체 의식인 민족의 의미를 중심으로 살펴보았다.
재일조선인들의 정체성 혼란은 일반적인 디아스포라(Diaspora) 개념으로도 설명이 어려운 특수한 상황이다. 조선적 재일조선인들은 남한도, 북한도 그들의 조국이 아닌 그렇다고 일본을 자신의 나라로는 받아들일 수 없는 그런 집단의식이 확대되어 만들어진 또 다른 연대화 된 공동체이기 때문이다.
다큐 영화 <우리학교〉 속 민족의 의미는 우리가 일반적으로 알고 있는 민족의 개념과는 그 층위가 구별된다. 영화 속 〈우리학교〉의 학생들은 처음부터 존재하는 자생적 민족이 아닌 조선학교라는 공동체를 통해 그들 스스로 함께 하며 만들어가는 민족을 경험한다. 결국 재일조선인들의 같은 민족이라는 유대감은 애초부터 그들이 태생 적으로 지니고 있었던 것이 아닌 일본 사회의 재일조선인들에 대한 차별이 만들어낸 정서적 연대감이 만들어낸 공동체 의식의 발로인 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Through the documentary “Our School," this study examines the identity of Zainichi Korean residents in Japan and the meaning of the nation and community that the Japanese society’s discrimination has made against them. The confusion of the identity of Zainichi Korean permanent residents in Japan that cannot be explained even by the general idea of diaspora is a special situation. This study focuses on the discrimination policy against Korean permanent residents in Japan that they have experienced severely.
Zainichi Koreans are the permanent residents in Japan that emerged historically from Japanese colonialism and Japanese socio-political and legal policies in general. They do not consider that either South Korea or North Korea is their homeland. They cannot accept Japan as their homeland, either. They are an ethnic community that was collectively formed through the expanded group consciousness.
The meaning of the nation in the documentary “Our school" is different from the idea of the nation that we know in general. The students in that documentary are not the autochthonous ethnic group that exists from the beginning, but they experience the nation that they form by themselves through the Joseon School as a community. A strong bond as the same nation among Zainichi Korean residents in Japan is an expression of the group consciousness that was created by the Japanese society’s discrimination against Zainichi Korean residents in Japan, but it was not innate that they had from the beginning.
