This study was intended to analyze the basic foundation of economic growth policy of Korea up until now and to compare it with Chinese economic policy in recent years. Besides, an analysis will be made on problematic issues raised from the successful records in Korean economic growth and their principal reasons would be explained. Finally, these issues and results were compared with Chinese economic growth policies which are prone to have quite similar problems to Korean ones in a sense.
This approach was chosen mainly because the so - called $quot;Korean - style$quot; model of economic development has been applied in other Asian developing countries, especially in neighboring big country China. If the shortcomings of the $quot;so - called$quot; Korean model are well understood, the probable shortcomings of Chinese economic policy could be prevented in advance.
Among other things, the principal investigator, as a native citizen of China, of this study has studied in Korea in order to obtain his doctoral degree in economics and has had strong interests in this area for a long time. With a background in this area, the problems of Korean model were well investigated in depth which could be useful for Chinese economic policies.
