It is admitted ideal in language education to teach the four skills, namely, listening, reading, speaking and writing together. Among them, reading skill and writing skill are closely correlated with each other, and recently there are many proposals to educate the two skills together and such proposals are considered positively. This study purposed to analyze the integrated education of reading-writing on improvement in English reading comprehension. For this purpose, this study performed reading-writing integrated education at a provincial foreign language high school through a semester consisting of 18 weeks and 5 hours per week, and compared the results with a control group for which reading and writing skills were taught separately. Each group was divided again into high, middle and low sub-groups, and the effect on improvement in English reading comprehension was compared according to the level. In the results, the integrated teaching of English reading-writing resulted in significant improvement in achievement in the middle and high sub-groups. Accordingly, it is considered unreasonable to execute education of such a level, which appears effective only for high-level students, in ordinary high school English
class. Thus, we expect to make further research for students at different levels and to develop and apply level-based teaching materials.
