교사를 통해 본 다문화 가정 유아 부모의 특성과 유치원 교육 참여에 대한 질적 연구 = Characteristics and participation in kindergarten education of parents of young children from multi-cultural families from perspective of early childhood teachers

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study explored personal characteristics and degree of participation in kindergarten education of parents of young children from multi-cultural families from perspective of early childhood teachers. Six kindergarten teachers who have young children from multi-cultural families in their class were interviewed and talked about their experience with the multi-cultural families of the children. The study found followings. Fist, the children's mothers who came form other countries have difficulties in communication with others through the Korean and were shy and diffident with people. However, they presented in kindergarten activities in which teachers asked the parents to participated. Second, the fathers of the young children were old age or had inappropriate drinking habit or use violence in home. Therefore it is hard to say that their homes were caring environments for young children. Third, the teachers had difficulties to interact with the multi-cultural families and deliver educational activities which needs efficient relationship with the families. Forth, the teachers suggested to support economical assistance for the multi-cultual families and educational assistance for the mothers from other countries so that they could provide appropriate caring environments for their children.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 다문화 가정 유아들을 가르치고 있는 교사들의 관점을 통해 다문화 가정유아들의 부모가 어떠한 특성을 가지고 있으며 다문화 가정과 유치원 교육 간의 연계 형태와 정도는 어떠한지에 대해 탐색하였다. 6명의 교사를 면담하였으며 면담내용에는 10명의 다문화 가정 유아들의 가족에 대한 이야기가 포함되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화 가정 어머니들의 경우 대부분 한국어 의사소통 능력에 문제가 있고 이로 인해 어머니들의 생활이 소극적이고 폐쇄적인 경향이 있었다. 그러나 기본적으로 자녀의 정기적 유치원 활동에는 참여하고 있었다. 둘째, 교사들은 다문화 가정의 경제적 어려움, 아버지의 연령과 생활습관, 어머니의 한국어 의사소통 능력의 한계 등 복합적인 요인이 작용하여 다문화 유아의 가정과 연계하여 교육활동을 하는데 여러 가지 어려움에 직면하고 있었다. 셋째, 농촌지역이나 도시지역의 저소득층 다문화 가정 유아를 가르치고 있는 대부분의 교사들은 다문화 가정 유아가 최적의 성장과 발달을 위해 가정에 대해 경제적 지원과 교육적 지원이 필요하다고 제안하였다.
