Kim Gi-Jin talked about Lee Gi-Young's novel 〈Hometown(故鄕)〉 that he wrote the latter part of the novel because Lee Gi-Young was arrested by the police. The author's problem is important in evaluating Hometown, but the discussion did not take place because of the literary history of Hometown. Lee Gi-Young also faced difficulties in the process of writing Hometown. He stayed in Cheon-An(천안) 40 days in mid-July 1933 and wrote 2,000 copies of the first draft of Hometown. It was in chapter 29 that the first crack appeared in. Before the crack, the actions and conversations of the villagers were central to the novel. After the crack, the inner side of the character was located at the center of the novel. The filature factory's strike was inspired by the 'Jong-Yeon Filature' strike that took place in September 1933. It was in Chapter 35 that a second crack appeared in Hometown. After the second crack, Hometown appeared in the narrative style of the characters. The first crack stems from the writer's stay in Cheon-An and writing novels. The second crack stems from Kim Gi-Jin writing the latter part of the novel. At the end of Hometown, the character disturbance is prominent, because the character disturbance was written by Kim Gi-Jin. Even if Lee Gi-Young had finished Hometown, the ending would not have changed much. This is because there was no possibility of a different ending in the course of the novel's development.
