Purpose: This study aimed to identify factors associated with pre-diabetes, focusing on types of obesity, and dyslipidemia indicators in community-dwelling Korean adults. Methods: Participants were adults (≥35 years) who understood the purpose of the study, had no cognitive impairment, and were able to communicate. Body mass index (BMI), abdominal obesity (AO) measurements, and blood tests, including total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), were performed. Data were analyzed using t-test, chi-square test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and multiple logistic regression analyses. Results: BMI, WC, TG, age, drinking status, age at drinking onset, and drinking frequency are predictors of pre-diabetes. The risk of pre-diabetes was 7.83 times higher in the obese group and 11.0 times higher in the highly obese group as compared to the normal control group. Participants with AO had a 9.42 times increased risk of pre-diabetes. For each 1-unit increase in TG levels, there was an associated 1.97 times increased risk of pre-diabetes. Those individuals aged 50–64 years and ≥65 years had a 5.97 times and a 7.87 times higher risk of pre-diabetes, respectively, as compared to those aged 35–49 years. Drinkers had a 5.37 times higher risk of pre-diabetes than non-drinkers. The risk of pre-diabetes was 35.02 times higher for those who started drinking under the age of 18, and 6.21 times higher for those who drank more than five times a month. Conclusion: This study will contribute to the early detection and prevention of type 2 diabetes by identifying risk factors for pre-diabetes in community-dwelling adults.
