We analyze Humiliation as an unacceptable way of treating people. For that, we review the ideas of thinkers like Avishai Margalit, William Ian Miller y Evelin Linder. Latter on we compare the concept of humiliation with the idea of Exclusion as Luis Villoro understands it and with the lack of capabilities that Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum consider a clear sign of injustice. We also describe the concept of dignity according to Jeremy Waldron. We do all this because we want to show that even when the concept of “Humiliation” is not regularly used in moral philosophy, it is present with other names. We think that the concept helps to make more visible several cases of injustice. Finally, we give two examples of humiliation in Latin America: first, the terrible wounds of the Spanish conquest that have not been treated, they even persist in the form of discrimination and poverty. We also talk about “gran corruption” and its implications in exclusion. We defend that societies must face and solve the cases of humiliation.
