      During the past fifty yesrs, the state ideology has imposed great influence on the GDL (Gender Division of Labor) in China. This paper highlights how the state ideology has reshaped the GDL since 1949. On the one hand, the state ideology has created a new labor division of gender by reshaping the marriage-based GDL in families; on the other hand, women, as social actors, have expanded their living space with strategic use of the state ideology.
