철학 : 한주(寒洲) 이진상(李震相)의 『직자심결(直字心訣)』에 보인 직사상(直思想)의 이학적(理學的) 특색 연구 = Philosophy : A Study on Characteristic of Lixue of Jik-Thought Seen in Hanju Lee Jin-sang`s 『Jikjasimgyul』

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한주(寒洲) 이진상(李震相)은 19세기 영남 성주에서 학술활동을 전개하여 조선 6대가 또는 근대 3대가로 일컬어지고 있다. 그는 리(理)와 기(氣)의 개념을 통해 심(心)을 성(性)ㆍ정(情)과 연관시키면서 인간의 내면을 철학적으로 탐구하였다. 그는 심성론을 치밀하게 탐구하는데 먼저 심과 연관된 ‘직(直)’을 경전과 선현들의 논의에서 모아 34세『직자심결(直字心訣)』을 완성하여 수양의 근간으로 삼았다. 경전과 선현들의 논의에서 모은 자료를 분류하여 총 41개의 장으로 구성하였다. 이진상은 심의 ‘직’과 ‘경(敬)’ㆍ‘의(義)’를 연관시켰는바, 먼저 ‘경’을 통해 심의 내직성(內直性)을 확립하고 ‘의’를 통해 심의 외직성을 지향하였다. 특히 ‘직(直)’에는 내적 직심(直心)과 외적 직도(直道)로 분류하였는데, 직심은 내면에 사사로움이 없는 상태이고 직도는 사사로움이 없는 직심이 밖으로 그대로 표출된 것이다. 그는 이러한 ‘경’ㆍ‘의’과 ‘직’의 유기적관계를 통해 사욕(邪欲)을 제거하고 천리가 분명하도록 하는 수양 공부를 전개하였다. 그 직심이 직도로 표출하도록 하는 방법은 학(學)을 좋아하고 예(禮)를 밝혀 중도(中道)에 나아가도록 하는 것이다. ‘경’ㆍ‘의’ㆍ‘예’ㆍ‘학’의 유기적 연관을 통하여 직도가 확립되는 것이다. ‘직’에 대한 수양은 ‘예’에 의한 ‘경’을 보존하여 직심을 확립하고 ‘의’에 의한 시비판단을 할 적에 직도로 처리하는 것이다. ‘직’에 의한 심의 수양은 궁극적으로 내외일치를 모색하는 것이다. 이러한 내외일치는 이진상이 주장한 ‘심의 주재성’과 ‘리의 주재성’으로 발전하는 계기를 주었을것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The fundamental thought of Chosun Period can be said to be Neo-Confucianism. Many Confucianism in the Chosun Period made research into Neo-Confucianism and formulated their own philosophical theories. This thesis is focused on the Superintendence Character of Neo-Confucianism raised by Lee Jin-sang(李震相：1818∼1886) of the 19th century, who was called one of the six Confucian Philosophers in the Chosun Dynasty. He systematized his philosophy as taking a serious view Li and coincided Li in the Theory of Liki (理氣) and Sim in the Theory of Simsung(心性). Lee, Jin-sang studies Neo-Confucianism on close examination and also of Jik of Sim. In sacred books and discussions of previous scholars, he collects only letters of Jik which can become a secret of Sim and published the『Jikjasimgyul(直字心訣)』 . The phrases quoted on sacred books are 『The Shoo-king』,『The Book of Odes』, 『The Book of Changes』,『The Book of Odes』, 『The Analects of Confucius』,『The Doctrine of the Mean』,『The Great Learning』, 『The Works of Mencius』and 『The Book of Proptiety』. The discussions of previous scholars are of Ju Don-yi(周敦이), Jung Ja(程子), Jang Jae(張載), So Ong(邵雍) and Ju Hui(朱熹). He wished to solidify the superintendence of Sim as Kyung(敬), Eui(義) and Jik(直). If as Kyumg, self-interest in Sim is removed ane Chenli(天理) is cleared. The corresponding superintendence of Kyung and Sim will control body going to sensuous self-interest and make the original nature be wholly revealed. When Sim is coincided with Li through Kyung, it is straighted. Jik(直), Straight, classifies into two groups－Jiksim(直心) of the inside and Jikdo(直道) of the outside. Jiksim is not personal felling in the inside. Jikdo is that Jiksim without personal felling is revealed to the outside. Jiksim revealed to Jikdo is that it makes progress into the moderation as studiousness and Ye(禮). This will make person exist in the real world. Lee, Jin-sang’s superintend-Cultivation of Sim is that Kyung controls Gaekyong revealed from Hyungche, body does not lose sensuous self-interest, and the original nature makes be wholly revealed through Jik. The cultivate one’s min of Jik establishes Jiksim as maintaining Kyung by Ye, and processes daily happenings by Jikdo as judging right and wrong on Eui. Ultimately such a thing is that we will grope a agreement of the interior and exterior. That shall just give one opportunity of expanding over the superintendence of Sim and Li which Lee Jin-sang insisted. We can surely say that his Cultivation-Method of Sim in Neo-Confucianism is evaluated high in the history of Korean philosophy.
