The Farm-Land system in Yi Dynasty was based on the principle of government ownership, and the farm economy became one of the most important financial resources of national economy.
In the latter period of the Yi Dynasty, however, Farm-Land management and system, absurdity of taxation law, official unfairness and expoitation. For instance, the tax officialsptionalloy attempted to draw up the false Farm-Land books, overlevied the taxes on Farm-Lands, and committed freguently exemption from taxation. They collected the various kinds of additional and miscellaneous taxes as well as the legal taxes in order to pay to the authorities, or else they diverted the rest to their private use.
Thus were the farmers driven to be in rags and poverty; the farm-lands turned laid waste, and the government gradually began to be alienated from the people, Accordingly, at the end of the Yi Dynasty the anti-government riots of farming people such as Cong-Hak riot, were resulted from the most wicked minds of people, followed by the poverty of national economy which caused the downfall of Yi Dynaty at last. With this as a turning point the Farm-Land system under management of feudal monarchy fell down to pieces. Japanese invasion, therefore, brought the change of Farm-land management into the imperialistic phases as its result.
