뒤틀림 속에 몸을 두는 것 - 1960~70년대 이시무레 미치코(石牟礼道子)의 작품에서 ‘고향’ 개념의 재검토 = Placing oneself in a twist: Re-examining the concept of ‘homeland’ in the works of Michiko Ishimure in the 1960s/70s'

This article focuses on the rapid development of the Minamata case into a national history after 1995 and analyses Ishimure Michiko's writings of the 1960s and 70s as a counterbalance to this trend. Ishimure explores the structure of ‘abandonment’(棄民) in the Minamata case and, in tracing the history of her ‘homeland’(故郷), she comes to realize that she has been both a victim and a perpetrator when confronted with the history of Japan’s colonialism over the Korean peninsula. By analyzing her description of this process, we can read Ishimure's attitude of accepting remaining within the ‘twist’(ねじれ) with which it was confronted there. This article finally proposes that the unraveling of this ‘twist’, which comes from being both victim and perpetrator at the same time, not within oneself but in relation to others, is the germ of an ethic for the inheritance of history and memory.
