원천강본풀이 를 재화한 <오늘이>에 나타난 서술전략과 문체 연구 -그림책 중심으로- = Research on Narration Strategy and Writing Style of Oneuli, a Picture Book of Woncheongangbonpuri -about Picture Book-

The research is to study the narration strategy used in transitioning the epic Woncheongangbonpuri into a picture book. Oneuli is the picture book of Woncheongangbonpuri, and all chapters are about the story of Park Bong-Chun. However, the picture book does not completely encapsulate the most important scene in whic Oneuli wails when stopped by gatekeepers from seeing parents. The scene is cathartic to readers at the climax of the story. However, the rewritten picture book condenses the story to lower descriptive tension. Seo Jeong-Oh rewrote Woncheongangbonpuri as a picture book and used a different writing style and narrator intervention to meet the needs of the audience. The biggest difference between the epic and the picture book is the writing style. The picture book employs plain speech terms and indirect writing style. The narrative style is vastly different. The epic repeats writing styles including narration, omission and summary appropriately to have tragic beauty and tension but the picture book does not control the speed of narration. The epic Woncheongangbonpuri usually uses indirect libre style. In addition, it contains how people reflected times and recognized the concept in the past. In the past, people recognized the flow of time by sensing changes of nature and came to have the concept of time. The narration strategy of the picture book which is based on the epic Woncheongangbonpuri was briefly researched. The picture book has a clear theme and cycle of seasons but fail to have the artistic value of the epic. Each chapter and its narration strategy fail to express the climax of each chapter with artistic value equal to that of the epic.
