다산역학 연구의 최근 성과들과 미래 제언|RISS 상세보기

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 다산역학 연구사 전반을 필자의 관점에 따라 종합적으로 정리하고, 다산역학 연구의 미진한 분야를 찾아 제안한 논문이다.
먼저 다산역학이 비록 매우 돌출적 성격을 지녔다 하더라도 다른 모든 학문이 그렇듯 영향관계가 성립할 것이니, 다산역학의 역학사상의 위상을 규명하기 위해서 필요한 일차적인 목표로 성호학파 내의 관련성 문제를 제기하였다. 성호 이익의 역학 관련 언술들은 『주역사전』과 『역학서언』에 매우 비중있게 언급되어 있고, 주로 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤지만 더러는 부정되기도 하였다. 하빈 신후담의 역학과의 관련성에 대해서는 일부 논문이 제출된 바 있으나, 여전히 좀 더 많은 연구가 필요하다. 또한 순암 안정복의 역학 관련 기술들 속의 역학이론과의 관련성도 연구주제가 될 수 있는데, 안정복의 역학 논술에 대해서는 한두 편의 논문밖에 존재하지 않는다. 이것은 안정복의 저술이 아직 체계적으로 정리되지 않았고 또 그 번역도 미비하다는 데에도 원인이 있다. 앞으로 더 많은 연구가 기대된다.
그리고 그의 외손자 방산 윤정기에게 계승된 다산역학의 후속연구도 진척되고 있지 않아서 그 전승 문제에 대한 의견을 제출하였다. 대체로 정약용의 시나 사 등 문학 방면과 실용학 방면에서는 계승의 흔적을 발견할 수 있으나, 역학 분야만큼은 그 제자 중에서 언급할 만한 인물이 없다. 다산역은 50여 년을 훌쩍 넘어 그의 외손인 방산 윤정기에게서 온전한 모습으로 계승되는데, 그에 대한 연구도 여전히 미흡하다.
한편으로 현대 연구자들의 한계와 모순도 검토대상이 될 수 있어야 한다는 점을 제기하였다. 다산역학의 연구는 현암 이을호의 연구를 필두로 하여 여러 연구자들에 의해 수많은 논문이 배출되었고, 상당한 정도의 역량이 축적된 것으로 평가된다. 다산역을 분석하고 비교해 왔던 그간의 성과들에 기초하여 다산역 자체의 문제에 대한 검토와 위상 평가에 대해서도 앞으로 많은 관심을 가져야 할 것이다.
아울러 다산역학 내에서의 모순과 결함을 지적하는 단계에까지 연구가 진척될 수 있기를 기대하는 마음에서, 정약용의 『주역사전』 주석의 타당성 문제를 함께 제기하였다. 정약용의 깨알 같은 주석에는 오류도 있고 의도적인 곡해도 있다. 오류는 오류대로, 곡해는 곡해대로, 그리고 의도적 곡해는 그 의도성을 파악하는 것으로 그의 역학 면모를 진정성 있게 보여줄 필요가 있다.

This paper summarizes the entire study history of Tasan’s Yi-ology according to my point of view, and finds and suggests the weak areas of Tasan’s Yi-ology.
First, although Tasan’s Yi-ology had a very prominent character, the influence relations would hold, as all other disciplines did. Therefore, I raised the issue of relevance within the Seongho School as the primary goal necessary to identify the status of Tasan’s Yi-ology. Seongho Yi Ik’s statements on Yi-ology are very heavily mentioned in Tasan’s main Yi-ology books. His words mainly had a positive influence, but some were denied. There have been a few papers on the relevance of Habin Shin hu-dam’s Yi-ology, but more research is still needed. In addition, the relationship with Sunam An Jeong-bok’s statements about Yi-ology can be a research topic. But there is only one or two papers on them. This is due to the fact that An Jeong-bok’s writing is not yet systematically organized and its translation is insufficient. More research is expected in the future.
In addition, since the research on the succession of Tasan’s Yi-ology, which was inherited by his grandson Bangsan Yoon Jeong-ki, is not progressing, I submit an my opinion on the matter of transmission. In general, there are traces of succession in literary field such as poetry and prose or practical field, but there are no mentions of the disciples in the field of Yi-ology. More than fifty years later, Tasan’s Yi-ology was inherited by his grandchild, Bangsan Yoon Jung-ki, and research on his Yi-ology is still insufficient.
On the one hand, the limitations and contradictions of modern researchers should be considered. The study on Tasan’s Yi-ology has been produced by numerous researchers, led by Hyunam Lee Eul-ho, and it is estimated that a considerable amount of competence has been accumulated. Based on these achievements, much more attention should be paid to the review and evaluation of the problems of studies on Tasan’s Yi-ology itself.
On the other hand, with the hope that the research could be progressed to the level of pointing out the contradictions and defects in Tasan’s Yi-ology itself, I also raise the question of the validity of the commentary of Jeong Yak-yong. There are some errors and intentional misconducts in his commentaries. As it is, it is necessary to show his Yi-ology itself sincerely.
