노년기 우울증상에 영향을 미치는 요인|RISS 상세보기

국문 초록 (Abstract)

우울증상은 노인들에게 일반적인 현상일 뿐만 아니라 자살과도 관련되는 매우 심각한 질병이다. 본 연구는 춘천시 거주 노인들을 대상으로 노인의 사회관계, 특히 자녀와의 지원교환 수준에 따라 우울증상의 수준에 차이가 있는지 검토하는 것이 목적이다. 본 논문에서 사용한 자료는 한림고령자패널 4차 조사 자료이며 65세 이상 춘천지역 거주자 539명을 분석하였다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 건강은 노인의 우울증상에 영향을 주는 가장 중요한 요인으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자녀와의 접촉은 남성 노인의 경우 우울증상을 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 자녀와의 지원교환은 지원받기의 경우 노인의 우울증상을 감소시키는 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 서구의 경우 자녀로부터의 지원은 노인의 독립성을 침해하고, 부모로서의 역할 붕괴를 초래하여, 자아효능감을 감소시키게 되는데, 이로 인해 우울증상을 증가시키는 것으로 이해되어 왔다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같이 해석될 수 있다. 우리나라의 경우 자녀로부터의 지원은 규범적으로 당연한 것일 뿐만 아니라 부모로서의 역할에 충실했다는 점에 대한 방증이라는 점에서 오히려 노인의 정신건강에 기여하는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 다른 한편으로 노후에 대한 대비책이 부족한 현실에서 자녀로부터의 지원은 생활에 대한 불안을 감소시켜 우울증상을 감소시키는 것으로 볼 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Depressive symptom is not only very popular phenomena in the Korean elderly but also very serious disease causing the suicide. The objective of the study is to analyse the effect of intergenerational support exchange on the depressive symptom of the elderly in Chuncheon area. The data for the study consist of 539 person aged 65 or more living in Chuncheon area. The main results are in following. First, the subjective health is most important factor related with depressive symptom. Second, the contacts with the children show positive relationship with the depressive symptom in the male group. Third, the supports from the children show negative relationship with the depressive symptom. In the western society, it is said that supports from the children weaken the independence of the elderly, breakdown the parent role, and result in decrease of the self-efficacy. However in Korea, because it is normal for the elderly to get support from children and support from the children also means the successful playing of parental role, it would positive effect on mental health of Korean elderly.
