신문관(新文館)의 출판 문화 기획과 근대 문학의 언어

국문 초록 (Abstract)

(1) 이 연구를 통해 1909~1918년에 신문관에서 출판된 7종의 번역 소설을 체계적으로 조명하고 재평가했다. 또한 1종의 번역 소설을 새로 발굴하고 다양한 새 자료와 희귀 사진을 수습하여 <신문관 번역 소설 전집>을 출판했으며, 4편의 논문을 연구 성과로 발표하여 후속 연구의 실질적인 발판을 마련했다. (2) 신문관의 번역 출판 기획은 세계 문학과 아동 문학에 대한 관념을 구체화한 사례이며, 단행본 출판 부문에서 문체 혁신을 실험한 의의가 있다. 또한 잡지나 신문과 같은 정기 간행물과 구분되는 인쇄 기술 매체를 통해 문학 관념의 확산과 일반교양의 형성을 향한 획기적인 전환점이 되었다. 그러나 일본의 문고본 출판 형태를 고수하면서 1910년대 문학사의 주도적인 역량으로 성장하는 데에는 한계를 안고 있었다. (3) 지금까지의 연구는 기초 자료의 발굴과 수집에 집중되었다. 후속 연구는 신문관을 중심으로 1910년대의 출판문화 기획과 번역 소설의 문제성을 효과적으로 드러내는 데에 집중할 것이다. 이를 위해 신문관과 신문관의 출판 활동에 대해 역사적으로 접근한 단행본 저술에 착수할 것이며, 동시대의 유력한 경쟁사의 출판물로 시야를 넓혀 1910년대의 계몽 문화 기획에 대한 전면적인 재평가를 시도할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

(1) The purpose of this study is to shed new light on seven translated novels of Sin-mun-gwan, a publishing firm with its own printing plant. First of all, one compilation, "The Complete Collection of Translated novels of Sin-mun-gwan" was published, and four articles were issued. (2) The translation publishing project of Sin-mun-gwan was the concrete instant that showed a concept of world literature or juvenile literature, and the language of Korean modern novel in 1910's. Choi Nam-seon and Sin-mun-gwan searched a establishment of general culture and modern literature with the translated novels. But those were published in pocket book, after the model of it of Japan. (3) This discussion focused on excavating and investigating the preliminary data of Sin-mun-gwan and publishing of it. The follow-up research is mainly aimed at investigating the historical properties the Korean culture of enlightenment by Sin-mun-gwan and etc. in 1910's. The result will be published in monograph form.
