This study examines 186 papers published in Journal of Early Childhood Education for the last five years(1997 through 2001). Various statistical methods were used in 121 papers (descriptive statistics in 7 papers and inferential statistics in 114 papers) out of 186. In this paper, we identify some problems in using statistical methods, namely t Test, ANOVA, Chi-Square Analysis, Regression Analysis, Factor Analysis, Analysis fo Covariance, Correlation Analysis, and recommended ways to remedy the failing of each method. Many of the studies examined didn`t pay attention to the assumptions of the statistical methodology employed. We hope the results of this research conribute to a more valid use of statistical methods.
