여성 구술사 연구와 분과학문의 만남 : 북한 연구를 중심으로 = How Does Feminist Oral History Encounter with North Korean Studies?

국문 초록 (Abstract)

여성 구술사 연구는 기록되지 않은 역사를 복원함으로써 역사와 권력으로부터 배제된 다양한 여성 주체들을 드러낼 뿐만 아니라, 기존의 공식 역사에 문제제기를 하면서 도전하고 여성을 권력화한다는 점에서 실천성을 갖는다. 이 글은 최근 다양한 학문 분과에서 구술사/여성 구술사 연구가 활용되고 있는 현상에 주목하여, 여성 구술사 연구가 학문적 영역에서 갖는 실천성의 의미를 규명하고자 한다. 이를 위해 여성 구술사 연구가 다른 학문분과와 만나 하나의 연구영역이자 연구방법으로 자리 잡는 데서 기존 학문의 패러다임과 어떻게 충돌, 경합하는지를 분석할 것이다. 구체적으로 이 글에서는 북한 연구를 주요 분석대상으로 한다. 1990년대 중반 이후 북한 연구는 여성 구술사 연구를 하나의 주요한 연구방법으로 활용하고 있다. 그 과정에서 여성 구술사 연구는 ‘북한’ 여성 연구를 북한 ‘여성’ 연구로 전환시킬 필요성을 제기하였고, 구술 자료에 대한 관점을 변화시키면서 연구자의 인식론적 변화를 불러일으켰다. 이처럼 북한 연구 영역에서 여성 구술사 연구는 미흡하지만 기존 학문 패러다임에 도전하고 있다. 이후 이러한 도전이 지속되고 실천성이 확장되기 위해서는 북한 연구 영역의 확대와 관점의 변화, 구술자료에 대한 태도 변화(정보/경험/증언)가 수반되어야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Feminist oral history restores unrecorded history to reveal various subjects excluded from history and power and has practicability in the point of empowering women. This paper attempts to clarify the meaning of practicability of feminist oral history in the academic area from its interest in the situation in which the feminist oral history is lately utilized in diverse disciplines. For this, the paper will analyze how feminist oral history collides and competes with the paradigm of the existing studies from the point of settling down as a research area and research method. In concrete, this paper focuses on the analysis of North Korean studies. Since the mid-1990s, North Korean studies have been utilizing feminist oral history as a major research method. In the course, feminist oral history raised the necessity of conversion from ‘North Korean’ studies on women to the North Korean studies on ‘women’ and brought about the epistemological changes of the researcher. feminist oral history is insufficient in the area of the North Korean studies but it challenges the paradigm of the existing studies. Since then, the continuous challenges and expanded practicability can be enabled when the expansion of the area of the North Korean studies and the change of the viewpoint and the change of the attitude (information/experience/testimony) to oral materials are accompanied.
