국내 보훈 연구의 동향과 발전 방향:계량서지학적 분석과 시각화 = Trends and Directions of Veterans Research in South Korea:A Bibliometric Analysis and Visualization

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 계량서지학적 분석을 통해 보훈 분야의 연구 경향과 주요 주제를 파악하고, 향후 연구의 방향성을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해 1995년부터 2024년 10월까지의 국내외 보훈 관련 문헌을 대상으로 주요 연구 주제와 키워드 간의 관계를 분석하였다. 분석 도구로는 Biblioshiny와 VOSviewer를 활용하여 연구 주제의 네트워크와 발전 양상을 시각화하였다.
연구 결과 보훈분야에서 보건의학적 연구 주제가 주류임을 확인하였다. 키워드 분석을 통해 참전용사, 국가 정체성, 정신건강, 고령화 문제와 같은 핵심 주제가 보훈 연구에서 지속적으로 중요하게 다뤄지고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, 시간 흐름에 따라 주제가 사회적 요구와 변화에 맞춰 발전하고 있음을 확인하였다.
이러한 결과는 보훈 연구가 특정 기관과 의학적 주제에 집중되어 왔음을 객관적으로 보여주며, 향후 보훈 정책과 학문적 발전을 위해서는 다학제적 접근이 필요함을 시사한다. 특히 정신건강, 사회적 지지, 고령화와 같은 분야의 연구를 강화함으로써 보훈 대상자의 삶의 질 향상에 기여할 수 있다. 아울러 보훈병원에 편중된 현 구조를 넘어, 민간 연구기관과 대학 등 다양한 주체의 참여를 확대하여 연구 기반을 다원화하는 것이 지속가능한 보훈 연구 생태계 구축에 중요한 과제가 될 것이다.

This study aims to identify research trends and key topics in the field of veterans studies through bibliometric analysis and to suggest future research directions. To achieve this, literature on veterans published from 1995 to October 2024 was analyzed to explore the relationships between major research topics and keywords. Biblioshiny and VOSviewer were used as analytical tools to visualize the networks and developmental patterns of research themes. The results confirmed that healthcare-related studies dominate the field. Keyword analysis revealed that essential topics, such as veterans, national identity, mental health, and aging, have remained consistently significant in veterans research. Furthermore, the study demonstrated that research evolves in alignment with social needs and changes over time. These findings highlight the thematic concentration and institutional dominance in veterans research, suggesting the need to strengthen interdisciplinary approaches and expand studies on mental health and social support in future policy development. To build a more sustainable research ecosystem, it is also essential to move beyond the predominance of veterans hospitals and promote broader involvement from universities, private research institutes, and other diverse organizations.
