특수임무유공자 삶의 만족도 결정요인에 관한 연구 = An Empirical Study on the Determinants of Life Satisfaction among Special Duty Meritorious Persons in South Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 특수임무유공자의 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 주요 결정요인을 실증 분석하여 특수임무유공자 정책 개선 및 삶의 질 향상을 위한 정책적ㆍ실무적 기초자료로 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 2021년 국가보훈처와 통계청이 공동 수행한 국가보훈대상자 생활실태조사 자료 중 특수임무유공자 214명의 데이터를 별도 추출하여 요인별 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 변수는 개인적 요인(성별, 연령), 건강 요인(전반적 건강상태, 정신건강, 스트레스), 사회ㆍ경제적 요인(가족관계 만족도, 노후준비 상태), 정책 요인(보훈정책 만족도)으로 구성하였으며 이분산성 보완을 위하여 강건한 표준오차(Robust Standard Errors)를 적용하였다.
분석 결과 전반적 건강상태와 가족관계 만족도는 삶의 만족도에 긍정적인(+) 영향을 미쳤으나 정신건강과 노후준비 상태는 부정적인(-) 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 성별, 연령, 스트레스, 보훈정책 만족도는 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다.
이러한 결과는 특수임무유공자의 삶의 만족도를 제고하기 위하여 정신건강 지원체계의 정비, 노후준비에 대한 정책적 대응, 가족관계 강화 프로그램의 마련이 필요함을 시사하며, 특수임무유공자의 보훈 정책의 질적 개선과 정책 수혜자의 체감도 향상이 요구됨을 시사한다.

This study aims to empirically examine the key determinants influencing life satisfaction among Special Duty Meritorious Persons(SDMPs) in South Korea and to provide foundational insights for improving relevant policies and practical interventions. Utilizing data from the 2021 National Survey on Veterans’ Living Conditions, jointly conducted by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and Statistics Korea, a sample of 214 SDMPs was extracted for analysis. A multiple regression analysis was conducted based on four categories of independent variables: personal factors (gender, age), health factors (overall health status, mental health, stress), socio-economic factors (family relationship satisfaction, retirement preparedness), and policy factors (satisfaction with veterans' policies). Robust standard errors were applied to address issues of heteroscedasticity.
The results revealed that overall health status and family relationship satisfaction had statistically significant positive effects on life satisfaction, while mental health problems and inadequate retirement preparedness negatively affected it. In contrast, gender, age, stress, and satisfaction with veterans' policies showed no statistically significant effects.
These findings suggest the necessity of reinforcing mental health support systems, implementing comprehensive retirement planning policies, and enhancing family support programs to improve life satisfaction among SDMPs. Furthermore, the results highlight the need for qualitative improvements in veterans' policy and greater perceived effectiveness of such policies among beneficiaries.
