2부 대학의 운영과 의미 - 덕성여대를 중심으로 - = A Study on Night College of Duksung women’s University

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to clarify the meaning of the installation factors and operation of the night colleges, which were actively operated from liberation to the 1980’s. Duksung Women 's University is the first university that established night college among the female universities. In case of Duksung Women's University, it is also a special point that the spirit of the founder, “self-reliance, self-consciousness, self-awareness,” is in line with the purpose of establishing a night college that enables women with jobs to finance themselves and continue their studies. Although the purpose of establishing the night college was very positive in this way, it was also a means to demonstrate the convenience of the university, and the students were evaluated to have lower academic ability than the university students in the first grade. In this study, I tried to find out the reality of the night college at that time and to check the meaning of that again.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 해방 이후부터 1980년대까지 활발하게 운영되었던 2부 대학(야간대학)의 설치 요인과 그 운영을 살핌으로써 그 의미를 밝히고자 하였다. 많은 2부 대학 중 여자 대학으로는 최초로 2부를 설치하여 운영하였던 덕성여대를 그 대상으로 삼았다. 덕성여대의 경우 ‘자생, 자립, 자각’이라는 설립자 차미리사의 정신이 직업을 가진 여성들이 스스로 학비를 조달하여 학업을 이어나갈 수 있도록 하는 2부 대학의 설립 목적과 일치하는 점 역시 특별하다 할 수 있다. 2부 대학의 설립 목적은 이처럼 매우 긍정적인 것이었으나 대학의 입장에서 편법을 발휘할 수 있는 수단이 되기도 하였고, 학생들은 근거 없이 1부 대학생에 비해 낮은 학력을 가졌다는 평가를 받기도 하였다. 본고 에서는 당시 2부 대학과 재학생의 실상을 밝혀 2부 대학의 존재 의미를 다시금 확인하고자 하였다.
