      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examines the influence of grit and communication competence on adaptation to college life among students majoring in tourism-related disciplines. The objectives are twofold: first, to identify which subcomponents of grit and communication competence significantly influence adaptation to college life; and second, to provide guidance to support students’ successful adjustment based on these findings. In pursuit of these objectives, the study commences with a literature review to define the concepts of grit, communication competence, and adaptation to college life, as well as to identify their respective subdimensions. Subsequent statistical analyses using SPSS ver. 22 evaluate the reliability and validity of the measures, followed by regression analysis to test the research hypotheses. The results indicate that within the grit construct, perseverance of effort positively influences adaptation to college life, whereas consistency of interest has a negative impact (a finding consistent with prior research). In terms of communication competence, different components exhibit varying degrees of influence across the four dimensions of adaptation to college life: academic adjustment, social adjustment, emotional adjustment, and university environment adjustment. These findings suggest that communication competence development should be addressed by providing students with guidance tailored to the unique characteristics of each subdimension, thereby effectively supporting student adaptation.
