노년기 남성의 性생활에 관한 질적 연구 = Qualitative Study on Men's Sex Life in Old Age

The study is aimed at identifying what matters are actually occurred in men's sex life in old age, how old age affects it, and general things of old sex life. For more specific, the study focuses on finding how old men's sex experiences affect their general life and in what way and what relation they adopt themselves.
The study has been conducted by meeting the male elderly over 65 living in downtown, Seoul at random and by collecting data through in-depth interviews and Q&A with 10 seniors who agreed with the poll.
The study conducted works to classify and analyze collected data in accordance with qualitative paradigm model of Strauss & Corbin and in result, 21 categories, 45 sub-categories, and 175 properties & dimensions were produced.
The study results show that priorities of men's sex life in old age are focused on "proving they live" and "man's power", its causal conditions are found "sexual desire", "sexual life attitude", "expression of love", and "satisfying sexual desire", and action/interaction strategies on main phenomena are identified to be concerned with factors such as " sex satisfaction degree", "improving sex life", "open sexual ethics", and "sex partner". Therefore, the seniors undergoing their old age are found to take mental changes, physical changes, sexual desire decrease, and sexual desire loss which are occurred in the old age in a natural phenomenon and they are found to think they should satisfy sexual desire by any means, affected from the open sexual ethics.
The study results show that men's four patters of sex life in their old age are "satisfaction type", "tenacity type", "desire type", and "give-up type". It shouldn't be understood to be fixed, but to be changeable depending upon time flow and individual circumstances.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 노년기를 보내는 남성의 성생활 경험의 본질을 파악하고, 어떻게 성생활을 하고 있는가, 남성노인의 성생활의 전반적인 것을 알아보는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 즉 남성 노인의 성생활 경험이 삶에 어떤 영향을 미치며, 어떠한 관계 속에서 어떻게 적응을 하며 성생활을 영위하는 지를 알아보고자 함이다.
본 연구를 위해 서울 시내에 거주하는 65세 이상 남성노인을 무작위로 만나, 연구 동의서에 서명한 10명을 서면 질문지와 심층면접을 통하여 자료를 수집하였다.
수집한 현장자료를 근거로 하여 Strauss와 Corbin의 질적 연구 패러다임 모델에 따라 범주화 하고 분석한 결과, 21개의 범주와 하위 범주 45개, 속성 및 차원이 175개가 도출되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면, 노년기 남성노인의 성생활 중심현상은 ‘살아있다는 증거다’ 와 ‘남자의 힘’으로 나타났으며, 이것의 인과적 조건은 ‘성적욕구’, ‘성생활 태도’, 애정표현‘, 성욕구 해소’이며, 또한 중심현상에 대한 작용/상호작용 전략으로 ‘성 만족도’, 성생활 증진‘, 개방적 성윤리’, ‘성 상대자’로 도출되었다, 따라서 노년기를 보내는 남성노인은 이러한 것들로 인하여 결과적으로 노년기에 나타나는 심리적 변화, 신체적 변화, 욕구저하, 만족감 감소를 ‘자연스러운 현상으로 받아들임’과 배우자 외, 개방적 사고의 성윤리에 의하여 ‘어떻게 해서라도 해소해야 한다.’로 나타났다.
이에 따른 본 연구의 결과에서 남성 노인의 노년기 성생활 유형이 4가지 형태 ‘충족형’, ‘집착형’, ‘갈망형’, ‘체념형’으로 나타났다. 이것은 고정적이 아니라 시간의 흐름에 따라, 개인의 상황에 따라 변화될 수 있다고 본다.
