골프선수와 전문캐디의 다면적 관계 = The Multidimensional Relationship between Golf Player and Caddy

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the role of the professional caddie in the golfer-caddie relationships. Interviews were conducted with six golfers and four caddies from the America Professional Golfers Association (APGA) Tour. Survey were performed with 42 APGA to examine their cognition on professional caddie. Data were collected through depth interview and survey. The results can be summarized as follow using above method. An interpretational analysis of the data revealed a five-component model that was able to both describe the role and provide guidance to golfers and caddies for optimizing their relationships. The role of professional caddy were categorized by the physical role, technical role, psychological role, life role. Also, the components included in the model were decision-making, moderators of the partnership, goal setting, and strategies. Strategies for golfers and caddies to enhance the utility of the caddie are discussed, including how knowledge of the goals and responsibilities of the player and caddie in different situations can provide a greater degree of structure and consistency in their relationships. Future research is suggested on the particular characteristics of the golfer-caddie relationships, including the content of the interpersonal behavior, the frequency of interaction, the history of the relationship, and the style of communication on and off the golf course.
