민족주의와 스포츠: 남한 근대사와 이들의 관계에 대한 성찰 = Nationalism and Sport: Reflection on their relationship in South Korean modernization

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigated sociocultural and political meanings and functions of sport in the aspect of Korean nationalism. After the independence in 1945, how Korean nationalism, in the midst of modernization drive, has developed, and how recent sociocultural events in Korea, especially the World Cup Soccer, has influenced the nature of sport and its function was looked at. In this historical narrative, the sentiments of anti-Japan, anti-American, as well as nationalism was examined in relation to sport. Also, the new trend of supporters' club and street demonstration was discribed and examined.
