AI 리터러시의 핵심 역량에 관한 탐색적 연구 : 시민교육을 중심으로 = Exploring the Core Competencies of AI Literacy : A Focus on Civic Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 일반 시민을 대상으로 한 AI 리터러시 시민교육의 핵심 역량과 교육 내용을 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 전문가와 일반 시민을 대상으로 심층인터뷰를 실시하고, AI 리터러시의 핵심 역량, 교육의 필요성, 주요 교육 내용을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, AI 리터러시의 핵심 역량은 AI의 기술적 메커니즘에 대한 이해, 활용 역량, 사회·경제적 영향에 대한 이해, 윤리적 활용, 인간-AI 관계와 주체성으로 나타났다. 또한 일반 시민 대상 교육의 필요성은 새로운 미디어 환경에의 적응, 삶의 질과 직결되는 활용, 사회·경제적 불평등 완화, AI 기술의 폐해 대응이라는 측면에서 확인되었다. 시민교육의 주요 내용은 AI의 작동 방식에 대한 이해, 실생활에서의 활용 역량, 윤리 인식, 사회적 영향에 대한 비판적 인식, 인간의 주체성 유지로 도출되었다. 본 연구는 인간-AI 관계와 주체성을 포함하여 AI 리터러시를 확장적으로 재구성하고, 시민교육의 방향과 교육 내용 구성의 기초를 제시하였다.

This study explored the core competencies and educational contents of AI literacy education for ordinary citizens. To do so, in-depth interviews were conducted with experts and general citizens, and the data were analyzed in terms of core competencies, the necessity of citizen education, and major educational contents. The findings are as follows. First, the core competencies of AI literacy were understanding AI’s technological mechanisms, practical competence for reducing information gaps, understanding socio-economic impacts, ethical use of AI, and awareness of human-AI relations and human subjectivity. Second, the necessity of AI literacy education for citizens was confirmed in terms of adapting to a new media environment, enhancing quality of life through AI use, alleviating socio-economic inequality, and responding to the harmful effects of AI technologies. Third, the major educational contents were understanding how AI works, developing practical competencies for everyday use, strengthening ethical awareness, fostering critical awareness of AI’s social impact, and maintaining human subjectivity. This study is significant in that it extends the instrumental view of AI literacy by incorporating human-AI relations and human subjectivity as core elements. It also reconstructs AI literacy on the continuum of media literacy and digital literacy, thereby providing a foundation for citizen education in a changing media environment.
