한국어 생략 구문에 나타나는 비대칭성과 생략 이론: 수문문과 조각문을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구에서는 한국어 수문문의 삭제 분석에 대안적으로 제시된 분열문 분석의 문제점을 검토하였다. 그리고 분열문 분석에 대한 대안적 분석을 제시하였다. 분열문 분석은 외현적인 상관어의 실현 여부에 따른 잔여성분의 격조사 실현과 섬 제약 양상에 대하여 사실과는 합치되지 않는 예측을 도출하였다. 이 연구는 수문문의 기저구조로 분열문 대신 ‘-은 것이다’ 구문을 제시하고 생략에 대한 LF-복사 접근 방식을 기반으로, 분열문 분석에 문제가 되는 현상들을 설명하였다.
선행절에 상관어가 내재적으로 실현되는 경우 수문문의 복구는 선행절 전체 TP의 복사를 통하여 이루어진다. 이 때 잔여성분의 해석은 엄격한 국지성 조건의 제약을 받게 된다. 한편 선행절에 비한정적 상관어가 외현적으로 출현하는 경우는 다른 통사 양상을 보이는데, 이 연구는 비한정대명사로 실현되는 상관어를 일반양화사로 간주하여, 외현적 상관어의 출현은 섬 환경 내부의 선행절 TP를 선택적으로 복사하게 하는 효과를 가지는 것으로 분석하였다. 그리하여 섬 효과가 복구되는 것과 같은 효과를 보인다고 하였다. 이러한 이러한 분석은 분열문 분석의 또 다른 문제점, 즉 잔여성분이 둘 이상 실현된 수문문에 대해서도, 또한 분열될 수 없는 잔여성분의 수문문에 대해서도 직접적인 설명을 제공해 줄 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There have been two contrastive analyses of Korean sluicing: the TP-deletion analysis on the one hand, and the (pseudo-)cleft analysis on the other. Due to peculiarities of Korean sluicing distinct from English sluicing, the TP-deletion analysis has been challenged, and the cleft analysis instead has been considered to be suitable for analyzing Korean sluicing. This study, however, examines problems of the cleft analysis, and presents an alternative. Based on LF-copying approach to ellipsis, this study presents -un kesita construction as an underlying structure of Korean sluicing. Dealing with indefinite correlates as a kind of generalized quantifiers, which are subject to constraints on quantifier raising, this study argues that the existence of an explicit correlate has an effect to selectively copy a relevant TP in a preceding clause, consequently showing the effect of island-repair. The presented analysis can also provide direct explanations for other data, unaccountable under the cleft analysis.
