독일 그뤼네스 반트 사례를 통한 「DMZ 평화의 길」 조성 및 보존에 관한 연구

After the two Koreas jointly agreed on the “Panmunjom Declaration for Peace Prosperity and Unification on the Korean Peninsula” on April 27, 2018, a plan to transform the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) into a peace zone began to develop. As interests in the DMZ border area increased, this plan named “DMZ Peace Road” supported by seven ministries is to be integrated with the “Korea Dulle-gil” project, which started in 2017 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. The “DMZ Peace Road” project aims to open the restricted region to the public so that the DMZ border area can be revitalized and new jobs can be created along the long-distance walking tour crossing the DMZ border from east to west. In accordance with this purpose, detailed plans are being made to discover routes for a safe and comfortable walking tour and special sections that can be only experienced in the DMZ border area.
In the process of pursuing this project, however, many political, economic, social and military problems are being identified. The process of making the path of peace is not progressing smoothly due to many demands and difficulties. Therefore, I would like to analyze the problems derived from the project and to examine the solutions through the analysis of the Grünes Band, a German demilitarized zone conservation projectthat prioritizes the preservation of the ecosystem and the environment. Grünes Band, which used to be the border between East and West Germany, has been reborn as a space of peace and nature conservation through the cooperation of environmental groups, state and federal governments, private organizations and individuals. By looking at the success stories of this project, I would like to look for clues that can solve the problems arising from our peace road project.
