국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문의 목적은 바로크 조곡 양식에 스페인 민속음악 어법이 결합된 19세기 후반 피아노 조곡 알베니스의 스페인의 노래 (Chants d’Espagne) Op. 232에 대한 연구이며, 다섯 곡으로 구성된 이 작품이 콘서트에서 총체적으로 연주되어야하는 논거를 확인하는 것이다. 이를 위해 조곡의 시대적 발달과정, 알베니스의 작곡경향, 스페인 민속음악, 스페인의 노래 분석, 바로크 조곡과 스페인의 노래 비교, 각 악장간의 음악적 연계성들을 살펴보았다. 그 결과 이 작품이 무용악장 모음곡으로 바로크 조곡양식의 전통을 일부 계승하였으며, 조성체계와 동기 및 기법의 순환적 사용으로 개별곡사이의 유기적 연계성을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이 작품의 다섯 곡이 총체적으로 연주될 때 하나의 완성된 모음곡으로서 보다 깊은 음악적 설득력을 가진다는 것을 제시하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this thesis is to study Chants d’Espagne Op. 232 which is the late 19th century Romantic piano suite combined by elements of Baroque keyboard suite and Spanish folk music and to examine why it is recommended to be performed at one sitting at concert. In this study, development of suite, piano music of Albeniz, some features of Spanish folk music, analysis based on key relationship and comparison between Baroque suite and Chants d’Espagne were discussed. There were clear connection with this work and Baroque suite in terms of a series of dance movements. Various musical links in specific key relationship, rhythm and melody among individual movements were found and flamenco, gypsy music, church mode, influence from orient were appeared in Chants d’Espagne. All the elements above suggest to build this work as one large piece. Therefore, when performed all movements, intention of the composer and musical effect would be maximized.
