과학 영재를 위한 이멘토링 시스템의 적용 = Adaptation of e-Mentoring Systems for Gifted Students in Science

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이멘토링(e-mentoring)은 시공간의 제약을 넘어 멘티가 관심을 갖고 있는 분야의 전문가로부터 수준 높은 지식을 주고받을 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 학업과 진로문제에 대해 멘토로부터 조언과 지도를 받을 수 있는 시스템이다. 이런 이유로 이멘토링은 영재들의 전문적이고 창의적인 능력 개발을 위한 실천 전략으로 부각되고 있다. 그러나 이멘토링이 영재들의 발전을 위해 효과적으로 기여할 수 있을 것인가에 대한 실증적 자료가 부족하여 실제 이멘토링 시스템 운영을 통해 과학 영재를 위한 이멘토링의 적용 가능성을 확인하는 작업이 필요하다. 이를 위해 과학 영재들을 대상으로 이멘토링을 시범운영하고 설문 조사와 인터뷰 등을 통해 적용 가능성을 조사하였다. 그 결과 이멘토링을 통해 영재들에게 필요한 인지적, 심리사회적 도움이 효과적으로 제공됨을 확인하였으며, 모든 참여자가 이멘토링 참여에 대해 만족하고 지속적으로 참여하기를 희망하는 것으로 조사되었다. 이러한 결과를 통해 이멘토링이 과학 영재의 연구 역량과 창의성 개발에 효과적인 방법으로써 적용 가능함을 확인하였으며 앞으로 과학 영재의 육성을 위해 이멘토링의 도입과 적용이 확대되어나가야 할 것이다.

Adaptation of e-Mentoring Systems for Gifted Students in SciencePyeon, Eunjin(Institute for Gifted Students at KAIST)Kim, Youngjoo(Yonsei University)Kim, Seonggil(Kwangwoon University)E-mentoring was defined as an intense interpersonal exchange between a senior mentor and a junior mentee by using e-mail, web bulletins, and so on. Through the e-mentoring system, mentor could provide knowledge, support, direction and feedback regarding mentee's career plan and personal development beyond the limitations of time and space. This study aimed to monitor the experimental possibilities of e-mentoring systems for gifted students in science. For this purpose, this study used some research methods as survey, interviews, and reflection papers, and analysed the effectiveness of e-mentoring systems and the satisfaction of e-mentoring participants. In conclusions, this study showed that e-mentoring had some effectiveness on the career plan and the psychosocial aspects, and that gifted students in science satisfied with participating in e-mentoring systems. After all, e-mentoring systems must be one of the most effective supporting systems for the gifted students in science for developing their creativities, settling themselves down, and building their leadership.
