Nowadays, with the rapid development of the social economy, people’s quality of life has gradually improved. People have more leisure time, and tourists’ demands for tourism are also changing dramatically. Tourists pay more attention to the culture, characteristic and participation of the tourism products, and the tourism pattern gradually changes from single sightseeing tourism to experience-based tourism, leisure travel, cultural tourism and other forms. As high-level tourism activities that pursue knowledge, obtain spiritual and intellectual satisfaction, cultural tourism activities become more and more popular with tourists. The development of corresponding cultural tourism industries in tourist destinations can precisely meet the spiritual and cultural needs and enjoyment of tourists, and can also effectively enhance the economic development of tourist destinations. Therefore, studying the development of cultural tourism industries is of great necessity and values.
South Korean tourism resource is relatively scarce compared with China, however, the cultural tourism of South Korea has developed quickly with the help of the relevant supporting policies of the South Korean government, and has great influence in the world, especially in Asia. Beijing and Seoul, the capitals of China and South Korea respectively, both have a long history and a unique and distinctive comprehensive atmosphere among the cultural tourism cities of the two countries. The cultural tourism products of the two cities have theirs own merits, and comparing and learning the cultural tourism products by taking the two cities as an example will help to promote and inherit the oriental culture and promote the synergistic development of cultural tourism in China and South Korea.
First of all, the article combs the current development background and development status of cultural tourism resources of Beijing and Seoul by reviewing extensive literature. Seoul is specifically described from major tourist sites, cultural heritages, cultural festivals, museums, and South Korean trend tourism, and Beijing is specifically described from major tourist sites, cultural heritages, cultural public performances, museums, and red tourism. Secondly, based on the analysis of the current situation of the two regions, the advantages and disadvantages of cultural tourism in the two cities are discussed in four aspects: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats by SWOT analysis. Finally, after doing a comparative analysis of cultural tourism products of Beijing and Seoul, the article proposes countermeasures for the problems.
