As charitable organizations grow steadily, charitable giving is delivered to donation recipients through support activities of charity organizations. Consumer’ donation behavior has received attention to organizations’ charitable activities. In the current research we show temporal orientation and donation recipients will have an effect on judgement about organization activities. This study focused on investigating interactions between two variables: people's donation attitude and affective anchored in perceived donation outcomes(short-term: after seven days vs. long-term: after one year) as time orientation suggested; and based on given orientation of perceived donation message recipient(individual: support for a specific child vs. collective: general aid for village). Result from study, donation outcomes generated in short-term orientation(long-term orientation) increase donation attitude and affective when appeals are used in a individual(collective) context. Furthermore, empathy about donation recipients and charitable organization is a mediator on the identity of recipient and a moderator on donation attitude, affective. We expect that these findings have important implication for charitable giving strategy.
