What is the meaning of Guinbeu(Group of Nine) in Korean literary history? The nine members of Guinbeu hold only the slight similarity, then the identity as a literary group is not sufficiently mapped out. Aesthetic modernity, which Guinbeu tried to reach and go beyond, implies so many directions that does not seem the common unified basis. However, the year of 1933 when Guinbeu was organized shows the complex interaction between political orientation of KAPF and literary orientation of Guinbeu, and the members of Guinbeu played significant roles in making such a situation. If we can call this kind of situation among different literary groups as `literary field`, Guinbeu was the main source of reorganizing the literary field in 1930`s. Its nine members display very different and individual enterprises, but the important is the mutual resemblance of those differences. This `family resemblance` of Guinbeu in based on the pursuit of aesthetic modernity. Bound to the condition of capitalism and colonialism at the same time, its result is different from European one. It is not the evidence of inferiority, but of difference.
