저축목적에 따른 저축행동 = Saving Purposes and Saving Behavior

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purposes of the study were to examine the saving behavior of households by their main saving purposes and to find out if the saving purposes differ according to the age of household head, the number of children, home ownership and household incomes. The saving purposes are classified into 6 categories: emergency, education of children, retirement, buying house, wedding/funeral services, and other purposes. The saving behavior was examined by both monthly saving behavior and financial assets. Using the 2003 Korean Labor and Income Panel Study, total 2,725 households were analyzed. It was found that the most frequently mentioned saving purpose was “for emergency". It was also found that the monthly saving behavior and the financial assets were different according to the saving purposes. The saving purposes were changed according to the age of household head, the number of children, home ownership and household incomes.
