      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper examines how Ian McEwan thematizes the complicated relation between neoliberalism, neuroscience, and novel in his 2005 fiction Saturday so at to challenge the existing discourse of subjectivity and reality presupposed by Western modern humanism. By focusing on the particular ways in which McEwan represents the protagonist’s (un)consciousness of neoliberalism and neuroscience-their ideological features and predominant influences on his life, this paper delves into the author’s acute attention to the centrality of neoliberalism and neuroscience to the protagonist’s way of thinking and action, which suggests a new-neoliberalist and neuroscientific-mode of subjectivization devoid of subjectivity. For McEwan, his novel serves as a proper narrative concerning how the interlocking political and scientific ideologies are formative of a new mode of post-humanity.
