The purpose of this study was to examine career variables that can reduce the employment stress experienced by college students due to recent employment uncertainty. To this end, the effect of grit, employability and career preparation behavior on job stress was verified. To achieve the research objectives, a survey was conducted and data was collected for senior students taking career-related liberal arts courses among students enrolled in a four-year university in Seoul. The collected data were analyzed using the intermediary model of Process Macro Model 4 using the SPSS 24.0 program. The results of the study were as follows. First, grit was found to have a negative effect on employment stress. Second, it was confirmed that employability partially mediated the relationship between grit and job stress. Third, it was found that career preparation behavior partially mediated the relationship between grit and job stress.
As a result of confirming the double mediating effect of employability and career preparation behavior in the relationship between grit and job stress, it was confirmed that it had a double indirect effect. These findings prove that girt and employability are major variables that help to positively manage job stress caused by uncertainty in employment. Based on these findings, a method of applying coaching to the field to strengthen college students' grit and employability and reduce job stress was suggested.
