국문 초록 (Abstract)

전남지역은 B.C. 4세기를 전후하여 점토대토기와 세형동검 등 초기 철기문화가 유입되면서 마한의 소국형성으로 이어졌다. 이들 소국은 청동기문화를 영위한 집단이 철기문화를 받아들여 성장하였다. 전남지역의 마한 소국은 15국 정도가 분포하였는데, 4세기 후반에 이르러 근초고왕이 보낸 남정군의 경략을 받아 백제에 복속되었다. 백제 남정군의 주요 공격 대상이었던 침彌多禮는 新彌國의 전통을 계승한 해남 백포만 일대를 관할하던 해상세력이다. 백제의 마한 경략은 강진만 권역의 古奚津및 백포만의 침彌多禮를 장악한 후 전북서남부지역의 比利와 피中등의 복속을 받으면서 완수되었다. 백제는 전남지역의 마한 소국을 장악하여 간접지배 방식의 일환인 공납지배를 실시하였고, 해남과 강진 등에 자리한 대외교섭 거점 포구는 직접 관할하였다. 백제의 영향력하에 있던 서남해를 비롯한 전남지역은 변화가 일어났다. 榮山內海일대는 영암 시종면의 옹관고분 축조 집단을 거쳐 나주 반남집단이 주도권을 장악하였다. 서남해의 연안지역 역시 해남 백포만의 침미다례가 약화되고, 북일 방면의 해상세력이 두각을 나타냈다. 백제의 전남지역에 대한 영향력은 5세기 이후 고구려의 남하정책에 밀리면서 점차 약화되었다. 서남해지역토착집단은 가야와 신라 및 왜국 등과 다양한 관계를 맺었다. 서남해지역 토착사회는 백제의 웅진천도 이후 변화가 일어났다. 동성왕은 직접 군대를 이끌고 무진주까지 내려와 서남해지역에서 영향력을 행사하던 탐모라 등의 복속을 받아냈다. 동성왕은 전남지역을 장악한 후 왕후제를 시행하였다. 왕후에 책봉된 인물은 중앙의 귀족세력 및 반남신촌리 9호분 등에서 확인된 금동관이 하사된 토착세력이 대상이었다. 토착집단 역시 왕후제의 시행에도 불구하고 독자적인 세력기반을 유지하였다. 백제의 문화양식과 다른 토착사회의 독자적인 문화전통을 유지한 마한의 잔여세력이 6세기 전엽까지 존속하였다. 백제가 6세기 중엽 方郡城制를 실시하여 직접지배를 도모하면서 전남지역 토착사회는 변화를 맞게 되었다. 지방의 수장층을 이용하던 舊來의 통치방식을 지양하고, 지방관을 통한 지방지배가 실시되면서 토착사회는 전통적인 기반이 해체되고 재편되었다. 또한 백제는 서남해 연안지역과 도서지방을 대상으로 勿阿兮郡과 因珍島郡및 阿次山郡, 道武郡등을 설치하여 서남해 海路를 통제하였다. 백제가 전남지역을 직접 지배하면서 문화적 변화 역시 필연적이었는데, 토기 제작과 墓制축조 방식의 변화에 그치지 않고 사찰 건립 등으로 이어졌다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As pottery with clay strip(粘土帶土器) and bronze daggers appeared before and after the fourth century in the Jeonnam area, about fifteen small independent tribes in Mahan were established. The small tribes of Mahan in the Jeonnam Area were subject to the Baekje through an invasion of the troops sent by King Geunchogo in the late fourth century. Baekje implemented a tribute system as a way of indirect control over the tribes, and made direct control of basic inlets for foreign trade located in Haenam and Gangjin. The Jeonnam area including the southwest sea, under the influence of the Baekje, changed. Youngsan inland sea was governed by the Bannam tribe of Naju via the tribe which left jar-coffin graves in Sijongmyon, Youngam. On coastal areas of the southwest sea, small independent tribes around Baekpo Bay, Haenam weakened, and sea traders in the Bukil area stood out. The influence of the Baekje on the Jeonnam areas weakened as it was relegated by the southward advance of Goguryo after the fifth century. The aboriginal group in the southwest area had diverse relationships with Kaya, Shilla, and Japan. The relationships between Baekje and the tribes of the Southwest changed during the reign of King Dongsung after the capital was moved to Ungjin. King Dongsung implemented a feudal system after he gained power over Jeonnam including the southeast area. The tribes in the inland area of Jeonnam also maintained their independence. As Baekje implemented the Banggunsungje government system(方郡城制) in the middle of the sixth century to have direct control, the tribal societies of the Jeonnam area faced changes. The old-fashioned local domination using head groups in local areas was sublated, and unitary local domination was achieved through the Banggunsungje governing system. Baekje``s local domination advanced further, and the traditional base of tribal society in the Jeonnam area was dismantled and reorganized. As the Baekje gained direct control over the Jeonnam area, cultural changes were required, and the building of buddhist temples as well as earthen ware production and a different style for grave sites followed.
