훈민정음이미지를 이용한 섬유조형에 관한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

세계의 각 나라는 오랜 세월의 변화를 거쳐 그 나라만의 글자를 구성하거나 다른 나라의 문자를 빌려 글자를 만들기도 한다. 그림과 형상으로써 시작된 문자는 인류의 노력으로 체계화 되었으며, 인류는 문자를 표현하는 도구로 발전시켰다. 이러한 문자 일반의 체계화와 발전은 인류가 그 기능성과 경제성, 그리고 조형성의 가치를 인식했기 때문이라고 할 수 있다.
우리나라의 경우, 한글은 그 형태가 독창적이면서 간결하며 합리적이고 과학적이기 때문에 그 우수성1)을 세계가 인정하고 있다.
21세기 세계화 시대, 우리나라는 외국문물과 문화를 받아들이면서 비약적인 경제 성장을 이루었으나, 일부에서는 외국문화보다 우리나라 고유의 문화를 개발, 발전시키려는 움직임이 일어나고 있다. 이는 창조적이고 독창적인 우리나라의 문화를 세계에 알려 그 우수성을 인정받고 세계화에 맞는 경쟁력을 갖추기 위한 노력인 것이다.
한글은 기초배합 등 효율적인 면에서 특히 돋보이며, 세계에서 가장 훌륭한 문자라는 극찬을 받고 있다. 따라서 본 연구자는 이러한 한글을 섬유 조형에 이용하여 한국적이면서도 독창적인 작품 디자인이 필요하다고 생각한다. 훈민정음의 조형성을 자연이 주는 여러 매개체를 통해 한지 캐스팅기법을 사용하여 조형물로 나타내었으며, 한지의 특성을 살려 훈민정음을 형상화함으로써 우리나라 고유문화에 대한 중요성을 예술작품으로서의 조형작품으로 재구성하였다.
서론에서는 위와 같은 논지와 연구목적을 밝혔으며, 연구방법은 선행된 한글 활자디자인과 한지 그리고 조형에 대한 연구를 살펴보았다.
이론적 배경에서는 한글의 기초개념과 훈민정음의 조형성, 국내·외에 발표된 전문서적을 통한 한글의 특징에 대해 살펴보고, 한지의 역사와 특징을 연구하여 작품의 기초적인 틀을 마련하였다.
방법적 연구로는 한지를 물에 풀어 도구를 이용한 찍기와 다양한 표현 방법을 이용하여 조형물로 재해석해보았다.
훈민정음의 이미지를 중심으로 하는 이번 작품은, 오늘날 다양한 물질성과 표현성을 갖는 현대미술의 영역 안에서 우리 주변에서 흔히 접할 수 있는 소재인 한지를 가지고 작업과 연계하여 창의적인 연구를 통한 자연스러운 문화를 한지조형작품으로 표현하고자 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Every country in the world has their own characters. Most of the characters have been developed through complicated changes for a long time or made by borrowing other countries' characters. However, Hangul has been acknowledged by all over the world, because Hangul, the Korean character, has a unique and simple formation. Since twenty-first century as the turning point, Korea has been developed and globalized by accepting other countries' cultures to accomplish the economic growth today.
However, there are some movements arising that try to develop Korean traditional unique culture more than other countries'. It means that superiority of creative and unique Korean culture has to be admitted to increase competitive power in the globalized world. Hangul, one of the Korean cultures, has been already acknowledged its superiority. It is said that Hangul is creative, outstanding in the sense of basic configuration and efficiency, and the most rational character in the world.
The researcher thinks that a creative and Korean taste work of design using Hangul for fiber modeling is needed. With formative characteristic of Hoon Min Jung Eum(another name of Hangul), the researcher represented Hoon Min Jung Eum as formative arts using the Korean traditional paper casting method through many ways by nature. Also, I reorganized Hoon Min Jung Eum into formative art which has a sense of importance for korean native culture using characteristic of korean traditional paper. With a theoretical background, the researcher researched basic concept and formation of Hangul. In addition, the researcher studied history and characteristic of Hangul, then settled characteristic of Hangul into shape of work getting information from papers which has been printed inside and outside of the country. As a methodological study, the researcher represented Hangul as formative arts using printing method and various expression. The works which has been used Korean traditional paper as a main material according to present image of Hoon Min Jung Eum, are used materials that we can see easily around us.
Today in the field of modern art, which has various corporeity and expressivity, the researcher tried to express natural culture as Korean traditional paper formative arts through the creative study and using traditional materials and method.
