This study attempted to identify the shape and directions of the curriculum, and the change strategies in the age of globalization. In order for curriculum change to take place, this study also examined change strategies. To proceed the study, first, the meaning of globalization was identified. Second, the shape and directions of the curriculum that the meaning of globalization refers to were explored. Third, reviewing the study and practice of change, the change strategies to lead the aims and priorities of the curriculum to student outcomes were suggested. Globalization is the result of the increasing acceleration in both concrete global interdependence and consciousness of the world as a whole in the twentieth century. However, globalization does not simply refer to the objectiveness of increasing interconnectedness. It also refers to the subjectiveness of increasing national interest. Each nation should, therefore, attempt to gain economic competitiveness which contribute to the global commons. To assure economic competitiveness, the curriculum should be shaped to help students to develope creativitity. Because economic competitiveness should improve quality of life of the global commons, global consciousness by understanding other cultures and nations should be developed for students, too. The student-centered-curriculum which values student thinking, encourages student-to-student interaction, helps students use subject matters as a managing tool for experience, and provides opportunities for students to think and rethink, demonstrate, and exhibit can be a new direction for change in the age of globalization. However, the student-centered-curriculum does not bring about change by itself. A new mindset and practice to bring about change are required by all involved in education. Education agency also has a special obligation to help lead the way in partnership with other social agencies to bring about change, because the focus of change must be on all social agencies and their interrelationships.
