The purpose of this research was to investigate the traits of high school students’ reading for writing taskx and the correlation between reading for writing and writing efficacy. As a result of analysis, 273 participants showed that they preferred reading online texts not related to writing tasks intimately even when they read materials to compose texts for school assignments. And they preferred information text reading when they do not regard writing tasks. There was high correlation between reading for writing and writing efficacy. From these results, this research suggest that educators should teach students to read texts more effectively when they need to compose texts for assignments. And researchers and educators need to promote students to be good readers and good writers both.
