This study has been performed to make out what relationships there are between brain laterality and creativity. The objects of this study were 80 children, 39 boys and 41 girls, sampled from the children before the school attendance, full 5 years old in Bu-cheon, Gyeonggi, and two tests were used as tools: brain laterality test, creativity test.
The contents of this study are what relationships there are between the achievement level of left-brain·right-brain and creativity, between brain laterality and sexs difference, and between group of brain laterality and creativity.
The results this study are as follows;
First, the women's creativity was higher than the men according to the sex. Among the 4 sub-fields in the creativity, the significant differences by both sexes came from the resistance fields about the elaboration and resistance to premature closure.
Second, there were no differences between both sexes according to the brain laterality. As for the achievement level of left-brain·right-brain, the women's left-brain was higher than the men's one by the sex, but the women's right-brain was not different from the men's one. As for the relation with the left-brain and right-brain by the sex, both sexes' right-brains were higher than the left-brains.
It is given to understand that the corpus callosum connecting two hemispheres of the brain almost develops in about 6-7 years old and the brain laterality is in the stages of full going on.
And at the achievement level of left-brain, the men have higher value than the women because there are biological differences and anatomical differences between both sexes, that is, the differences of maturity. After all, it is given to understand that the women experience the brain laterality in advance.
Third, as for the achievement level of left-brain·right-brain, all the left-brain·right-brain have static correlation, but the right-brain has the higher correlation than the left-brain in the total creativity score.
Fourth, the people with the excellent left-brain have low creativity. The creativity has high correlation with the right-brain achievement level, but the creativity has the highest in the unified brains that the left-brain and right-brain achievement level is evenly developed.
Therefore, the creativity is increased when the function of the left-brain·right-brain is unified and the both brains are evenly developed. After all, it needs to develop the environment that the left-brain·right-brain can be evenly developed and the education program with creativity.
There are different research results from the various studies. It is because the number of subject for the experimental research is small and there seems to be problems on the test instruments.
In addition, it needs to make the number of subject for the experimental research increased and to investigate the problems on the test instruments.
Also, seeing that the development of brain differentiation arose in about 6-7 years old vigorously, the children before the school attendance, full 5 years old, were executed as objects. But it needs to research and compare it as objects of the other ages and grades in order to compare it whether there are any changes according the ages.
In addition, the importance of creativity has been emphasized but there are few tools with original creativity can be tested, and, therefore, many atudies on brain laterality based on these relationships, and cultivation of the education program with creativity will have to be made in future.
