The purpose of this study is to find factors that affect the life-satisfaction of the elderly who live in home and going to the day care centers and who lives in nursing facilities. For this purpose, we investigated into the degree of life-satisfaction, the condition of health, the relationship with the family, the social support, and the extraversion of 130 elderly persons living in nursing facilities and 136 elderly persons going to a day care center. The degree of life-satisfaction, the relationship with the family, and the social support were higher in the elderly living in nursing facilities than those in day care centers. But, the condition of health and the extraversion were about the same level for both groups. Factors affecting the life satisfaction were the extraversion and the condition of health for the elderly living in nursing facilities, while the extraversion, the condition of the health, and the relationship with the family for the elderly going to the day care center.
