      2, 4세 유아의 가상 이해 능력의 차이 = The Difference of Performance to Comprehend of Pretense between 2- and 4-year-olds

      This study investigated 2- and 4-year-olds` ability to comprehend of pretense according to type and stipulation of transformation. Twenty 2-year-olds(M=30.3 months), twenty 4-year-olds (M= 51.1 months) were selected via introductory letters describing purpose of this study and snowball sampling. Each child participated in the task for comprehension of pretense which was enacted by an experimenter. There was a significant difference between 2- and 4-year-olds` ability to comprehend pretense according to type of transformation partially. 4-year-olds had higher scores on `wet/dry` type of transformation than 2-year-olds. But there was no significant difference in children`s comprehension of pretense on `empty/full` type and `dirty/clean` type of transformation between two years. There was also a significant difference in 2- and 4-year-olds` ability to comprehend pretense according to stipulation of transformation partially. 4-year-olds had higher scores on `complex` stipulation of transformation than 2-year-olds. But there was no significant difference in 2- and 4-year-olds` ability to comprehend the pretense on `simple`. These results showed that in 2- and 4-year-olds` kept track of the stipulated pretend transformation. And the findings suggest that ability to comprehend pretense composed of physical transformation is different depending on children`s age.
