I assess the theoretical models and propositions with qualitative and quantitative data on a sampling of LGBT. In the first stage, I review existing studies and undertake an extensive ethnography of LGBT persons (N = 50+), including ethnic Koreans and foreigners, and their affiliated organizations, mainly in Seoul. In particular, I interview members of the Seoul-based, Open Doors Metropolitan Church (ODMCC), who participate in the three models of organization. I also sponsor forums including LGBT persons and conservative Christians, such as at university campuses, to discuss points of disagreement and commonality. The study includes participant-observation, interviews, and analysis of numeric data and public opinion surveys. The NRF grant would fund payments for interviewees, informants, translators and transcribers, forums, and LGBT-related studies and surveys (e.g., Korean Social Survey, World Values Survey).
